Apple Cutting iPad Mini Shipments
Apple's shipments of the iPad mini will reportedly be about 20 percent thinner in the second quarter of the year, DigiTimes reported.
Citing various unnamed sources, the news site - which has a spotty record when it comes to Apple rumors - blamed the cuts on increased competition from 7-inch Android tablets, saying that total shipments of the tiny tablet will be 10-12 million units in the second quarter.
The downsizing, DigiTimes said, comes as Cupertino adjusts its reserves in preparation for the next-generation iPad mini, rumored for release in the third quarter.
