Sixteen new CCTV cameras have been installed in Blackwood town centre by Caerphilly County Borough Council.
The
cameras have replaced old ones originally installed in 2001. This has
recently been followed by the installation of replacement CCTV cameras
in Bargoed town centre, Newbridge town centre and Abertridwr.
The new cameras have 360 degree panning ability, as well as high quality imaging.
The
ongoing redevelopment of Bargoed has also allowed for an expansion of
the current CCTV system to include additional cameras to the Park and
Ride car park and the new bus station.
Cllr David Poole,
cabinet member for community and leisure services, said: “Our CCTV
operators play a key role in tackling and preventing crime, disorder
and anti-social behaviour in our county borough, and it is important
that they have the tools at their disposal to enable them to provide

The council’s CCTV operators monitor 143 CCTV cameras 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
